The best bit about my job
Most of the time it doesn’t feel like work - I just love my job! Being part of 4Motion is a way of life that enables me to fulfil my passions and makes me smile, for that i’m eternally grateful. The best bit about my job is the people. I get to work with lots of inspiring people of all ages, abilities and experiences, where we learn together in different environments to create experiences that are unique, thought provoking and fun – isn’t that what life is all about hey!

Life outside 4Motion
“If you can dream it, you CAN do it” is a motto I live my life by. Away from the 4Motion community, I am often found dreaming up surf, SUP, running and yoga adventures in my campervan Bo; attempting ultra marathons around the coast of Cornwall and beyond, embracing fundraising challenges either paddling the length of the River Thames or swimming around the Isles of Scilly! Apart from being an endurance junkie, I am a Blue Health Coach, NLP Practitioner, ALS Facilitator, Yoga, SUPYoga and Breathwork Teacher. I’m passionate about working with people to help them discover their dreams and spark for life. I also love to write, journal, cook and ultimately be surrounded by my wonderful family and friends.

Co-Founder of 4Motion CIC and the 4Motion Online Community, Dean also designed, built and manages our social enterprise vegan café - the Loading Bay Café in Windsor. His work involves programming and managing events with local musicians, artists and organisations, staffing the venue, stock taking and leading on the website and booking systems. Dean has a BA Degree in Drama, Film and TV, and was a teacher for over 13 years working as Head of Drama at a private school in Windsor, and delivered the outreach programme for excluded students at Windsor Boys School. He was accepted onto the Boosting Resilience Programme between 2017-19, an 18-month programme funded by Arts Council England to research and understand what makes arts and culture organisations sustainable in the current economical climate.

  • BA in Drama, Film and Television

  • BTEC in Performing Arts

  • Personal Trainer

  • Arts Council England, Boosting Resilience Research Participant

The best bit about my job
I absolutely love being in the Loading Bay Café talking to our customers. We are super lucky to have so many amazing artists working with us on events and the collaborative process I get to have with them is very special. One of my favourite parts of my job is collaborating with others whether it be on music event, workshop or creative schools project.

Life outside 4Motion
I spends most of my time with my Australian wife and two young sons, or making pizza and vegan food. After spending many months travelling I have a strong passion for food, culture and creativity. My dream weekend involves being silly with my sons, making pizza from scratch, drinking a crispy chilled Voignier and catching up on the latest Italian mafia series on TV!

Image of Sarah Hope, Dance Teacher, 4Motion CIC

Sarah Hope - Dance Teacher

Sarah is a dance teacher for 4Motion and the 4Motion Online Community - teaching adults and children of all ages and abilities for over 25 years. Sarah’s style of dance is a combination of her experiences as a dance teacher and the opportunities she has taken on throughout her career. Her main route to dance was IDTA based and her speciality techniques are ballet, modern, tap, jazz, disco. Sarah has also developed the ability to salsa, ballroom, freestyle and choreograph. In the last 5 years she has continued to develop more contemporary styles and to deliver dance to the education sector, in mainstream primary, secondary and SEN schools.

The best bit about my Job
I get the chance to give back and share my passion of dancing with others. I meet so many different people and instantly make a connection and bond that’s like nothing else I've known. I also like the freedom of being a dance teacher and being able to share my knowledge with other dance professionals, meaning collaborative events are more exciting. It’s also so rewarding when you’re able to encourage young dancers and see them flourish and build on their own self confidence through dance. It’s a pretty cool job if I am honest.

Life outside 4Motion
You will normally find me walking the sandy shores of the beautiful Cornish coastline with my cocker spaniels. Being near the sea, swimming or surfing is my time to relax and unwind. I have always loved photography and more recently taken up HIIT training to help me with my long distance running. I love the 80s, listening to music, cooking vegetarian dishes or baking - all things that makes me smile.

Image of Alice Jarvis, Dance Teacher, 4Motion CIC

Alice Jarvis – Dance Teacher

Alice started ballet when she was 3 and has never looked back! She was taught by Elaine at school and enjoyed being a part of her first 4Motion Dance Theatre show at the age of 14. After leaving school, she trained in Musical Theatre at Laine Theatre Arts for one year before starting at Performers College. Alice achieved the Trinity Nation Diploma in Professional Dance and three ISTD DDI teaching qualifications in Ballet, Tap and Modern. As well as teaching in local schools, Alice teaches two classes in the studio: Elements and Ignite.

Alice’s favourite dance companies at the moment are: Mathew Bourne’s New Adventures, Desi Hoppers and I love the work of choreographers Galen Hooks and Katie Prince.

Best bits about my job
I was inspired to teach by the passion my dance teachers showed me growing up. I enjoy teaching because it is always different and I like to help students achieve new things.

Life outside 4Motion
I am a massive Star Wars fan and even have a Yoda lunch box! I enjoy surfing but spend most of my time falling off..

Image of Megan Rhodes, Yoga Teacher, 4Motion CIC

Megan Luna Rhodes – Yoga Teacher

Megan is a yoga teacher and trained in mainly ashtanga/vinyasa yoga, although her teaching and her own practice changes all the time! She is (in her own words) weirdly obsessed with essential oils and a bit of a nerd, slowly trying to replace all chemical products in her home with different blends of oils. There is a lot of trial and error but the smells are great! She specialises in teaching yoga for mental health sufferers, using yoga as a tool to help build emotional and mental resilience and self-acceptance.

The best bit about my job
My main passion is working with individuals with eating disorders, anxiety disorders & depression and using yoga to help work through traumas and reconnect with their bodies. Maybe even learn to fall back in love with themselves and celebrate their bodies and all that they are. Because everyone is quite amazing really!

Life outside 4Motion
I am an earth loving, singing, guitar playing, dancing, plant obsessed yoga teacher.

Jess Todd  - Yoga and Dance Teacher

Jessie is an experienced yoga and movement practitioner with a degree in Contemporary Dance Performance. She completed her Yoga Alliance Certified 200 Hour Teacher Training Qualification in 2013 and also has qualifications in Alexander Technique, Somatic Movement Practice and Charleston teacher training. Jessie specialises in Vinyasa Flow, Kids Yoga & Dance, Contemporary and 1920s Vintage Jazz. Jessie has delivered all sorts of classes and programmes for those with special education needs, and those with social, emotional and mental health difficulties, and inspires everyone of all abilities to join in.

The best bit about my job
I'm super passionate about bringing people together through my love for movement, and every day I feel so lucky to have a job that lets me teach and work with the most amazing people. I really enjoy creating a fun environment where everyone feels happy, safe and uplifted. For me, there is nothing better than motivating others in an imaginative way, all with a big smile on my face!

Life outside 4Motion
I really enjoy Wes Anderson films, especially if I get to watch whilst nibbling on my favourite snack of hummus and carrots with my kitten curled up on my lap. A perfect weekend for me would probably involve going out and exploring the countryside in my campervan, hitting a festival with my friends and dancing under the stars, preferably wearing something sparkly!

Image of Kate Hughes, Meditation Teacher, 4Motion CIC

Kate Hughes – Mindfulness Coach

Kate is a mindfulness coach and meditation teacher.  She had a long legal career, but decided to swap the courtroom for a more zen approach to life when she had a stress related illness in 2015. Having completed a 100 hour Transformational Meditation Teacher Training, accredited by Yoga Alliance Professionals, she started her own business helping people who struggle with stress and anxiety. She is particularly keen to teach the knowledge and tools she wished she had when she was part of the corporate world.  Kate believes that everyone has the ability to live a calm, healthy and happy life, but unfortunately people are rarely shown how to achieve this in today’s busy world. Mindfulness is accessible to all and can have a profound effect on how life is lived. She teaches group classes, 1-1, workshops and retreats. Because your mind matters.

The best bit about my job
For me the best part of my job is seeing the impact that simple techniques can have on people, sometimes after just one session! It is so humbling when I am told that someone’s life has changed for the better, and that is because I showed them a path to take, the rest was down to them! It is a privilege to be their guide. I also love hosting retreat events and giving people the chance to take time out and experience something new, in a safe and nurturing environment. The rewards of this job are way beyond my wildness dreams and for that I am grateful every day.

Life outside 4Motion
I am still involved in the legal world and offer mindfulness courses to prisoners. I am on trustee boards for two charities and enjoy giving back to the local community in some small way and working with different groups of people. I am a real bookworm but I also enjoy modern jive and cooking vegetarian and vegan food. Other favourite things include sausage dogs, Marmite and riding my bike. Not all at the same time!

Image of Becky Mills, Personal Trainer, 4Motion CIC

Becky Mills – Non-Executive Director|Community Coordinator Cornwall

Becky is a keen swimmer, runner and triathlete - she can’t remember a time when she didn’t exercise.  She does remember being dragged around a 10k by her dad when she was 14 and throwing up over the finish line!  Exercising has helped her cope with more difficult periods in her life.  She also thinks about the positive effects that exercise has had on her life and now she  is completing triathlons, she is grateful for the 5am training sessions in the pool she used to do before school.  As a Personal Trainer, Running Coach and Triathlon Coach, she loves sharing her passion for exercise, but also helping people go through a journey of change both physically and mentally.  Becky also works with England Athletics as a coach educator where she trains people to start their journey into running coaching.  For 4Motion, Becky teaches the wake up workout, adult HIIT class and recently has co-delivered a series of workshops based on strength and flexibility.

The best bit about my job
One of my favourite things is seeing someone’s confidence grow through exercise whether that is by completing their first 5k or being able to do a 60 sec plank.  I really do believe that physical wellbeing goes hand in hand with metal wellbeing.  It’s fantastic to know that we are bringing exercise to people when they may not be able to normally due to childcare, work etc and I love seeing people energised and sweaty after doing a workout at home with me.

Life outside 4Motion
When I’m not being a mum to my six year old daughter or working, I love training for and completing triathlons.  I am currently training for my 5th half iron man and will be embarking on the crazy journey of a full iron man next year.  Living in Cornwall means I get to train in some stunning locations and there’s nothing like swimming in the ocean and appreciating the beautiful coastline around where I live.

• YogaShred® Instructor

• Personal Trainer & Fitness Instructor

• SUPfit Instructor

The best bit about my job
I love being a part of the community vibe that working out together brings. The opportunity to move, laugh and connect, together as a group, is priceless. I love seeing the look of pure joy and excitement when someone achieves a pose for their first time, the dedication they bring to a tough sequence or that look of content and peacefulness after a well-earned savasana. Yoga has made me grow in so many ways and I love the fact that my job allows me to assist in it doing the same for others 🙂

Life outside 4Motion
I'm a little bit obsessed with plants and have over 60 plant babies in my home – soon to be jungle- my plant family is still growing (pun intended). I love all things nature and adventure; diving and volcano climbs are my perfect idea of a holiday. So far I have climbed 7 active volcanoes; a highlight being when I got to combine these passions and dive at an active underwater volcano! My other passions include caring for animals and this beautiful planet we live on.

Marie Macey, Administrator, 4Motion CIC

Marie Macey – 4Motion Administrator

Marie has been involved with administration and secretarial duties all of her working life. She has worked as an Executive PA for a Chairman and Managing Directors, liaising with colleagues and members of staff located all over the world. She has also held the role as Office Manager, working with permanent and visiting teachers, organising and timetabling external exams for a wonderful music department at a private school.

Marie was invited to join 4Motion several years ago to help get the office ship shape and the team organised. She helps maintain the accounts, liaises with teachers, schools, parents and students. She is more than happy to help out with the company performances and has been known to make the odd costume or two!

The best bit about my job
I enjoy the interaction in the office with members of 4Motion, parents & students, oh and the laughter, lots of laughter!

Life outside 4Motion
Most importantly, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I belong to a choir and 4Motion’s Sing Out group and I attend a weekly art group. I also enjoy yoga, sewing, knitting and painting. A fun fact - I was once a member of a choir singing with the choristers at St Paul’s Cathedral.
