We are 4Motion

A collective of like-minded people who share a vision: to help you stay moving, connected and feeling positive

As a community interest company (CIC), 4Motion’s mission is to create and deliver inclusive experiences that support people’s physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. How do we do this? We deliver accessible classes, workshops, training and events that forge partnerships, unite people and celebrate communities. Listen to our Director, Elaine Macey, where she explains more:

4Motion is a creative arts, wellbeing and culture CIC, established in 2006. We have volunteered and worked across the UK and abroad, working with inspiring people, schools, charities and organisations in places such as Cambodia, Bali, Bosnia, Lebanon and Lombok to deliver community dance, youth dance leadership training and dance on film projects. We specialise in delivering inclusive dance and yoga classes, projects and training in primary, secondary and special education schools and community settings. We thrive on creating and managing large-scale performances, festivals and events for all members of the community, and we are extremely passionate about supporting and nurturing the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing of young people and adults.

Our aims and objectives are:

To inspire people of all ages and abilities to be active, engage in learning and lead healthy lives physically, mentally and emotionally by:

  • Delivering high quality classes, workshops and projects in dance, creative arts, yoga, fitness and wellbeing.

  • Sharing experiences that are accessible and inclusive, celebrating diverse ways of moving, thinking and expressing.

  • Facilitating inclusive youth training in dance leadership and creative arts.

To unite, strengthen and celebrate communities by:

  • Delivering experiences that raise aspirations, support wellbeing and strengthen community cohesion.

  • Connecting different communities, generations and cultures through our inclusive classes and projects that inform learning, inspire minds and encourage creativity.

  • Nurture youth leadership to champion their ideas, skills and ability to connect with their peers and community.

To promote, raise awareness and work in partnership with organisations, schools, local councils and businesses by:

  • Collaborating with artists, teachers and practitioners to enrich our creative, wellbeing, education and community programmes.

  • Working in partnership with schools, organisations, local councils and businesses to co-host creative, active and wellbeing programmes and community events.

  • Developing partnerships that will support the local economy, local employment and local communities.

4Motion was founded by CEO’s and Directors, Elaine Macey and Dean Soden. Their goal was to create an inclusive company that welcomed everyone, where people could dance and move freely without judgement, improve their fitness, forge friendships and be as wildly and spontaneously creative as they wished to be. Elaine and Dean embedded their beliefs into the ethos of 4Motion from day 1, and now continue to share this with everyone they work with to build on the foundations of 4Motion. We believe – everyone can be creative; everyone has the right to express and move freely.
